I thought I'd have a little fun writing something...if this type of post isn't allowed, I apologize! I needed a break from shovelling snow.
(Sports Illustrated, January 2, 2046)
He has been part of the world’s twenty-four hour news cycle for so long now that it’s hard to tell if he perhaps moves a little more gingerly as he puts his bag down and begins to stretch in preparation for his workout. The physique is familiar - lean and lanky, still as chiselled as ever - as is the outfit. In a dimmer light, you could swear he was still 34 years-old.
His ground strokes are as crisp as ever. The power of his youth left him long ago, but the decades of experience have turned his once-formidable forehand into a picture of mechanical perfection. The ball goes back and forth, and his hitting partner struggles to catch Novak off-balance. Unforced errors are practically unheard of for him now, provided he can get to the ball. When asked if he feels like he has lost a step, he fires back, “Of course I cannot be as fast as I used to be. No one can beat Father Time. But let’s see Father Time beat me in a best-of-three!”
Novak Djokovic is a man consumed with fulfilling what he has repeatedly said is his destiny - to erase all doubt as to who is the best male tennis player of all time by winning his record-breaking twenty-first Grand Slam tournament. “Why should I rest? I have no reason to rest. Looking back, I should have, what, thirty-five or forty Grand Slams by now, wouldn’t you agree? History will remember that I was robbed of my destiny. Robbed. It was stolen from me. But history is not set in stone yet. I will steal back my destiny.”
The story has been told so many times that it has become part of children's bedtime stories, tales parents tell warning of the consequences of pride. It started twenty-five years ago this year, early in the pandemic, when it was still being referred to as Covid-19. With much of the world in lockdown, before people started moving to the remoteness of Greenland and Antarctica in search of refuge from the virus, Djokovic thrust himself into the international spotlight with his feud with the Australian Open, where he was refused entry for his refusal to comply with vaccination rules. Chin held high, he defiantly returned to Serbia where he was welcomed as a hero. “They gave me the strength to fight on,” he reminisces. “They knew I was right. They knew.”
The French Open, Wimbledon, and The U.S. Open followed a similar plot. Djokovic would file for an exemption with increasingly elaborate explanations for why he should be allowed to play. He would get as far as landing at his destination, only to be sent home eventually. And yet, he never wavered. He continued to try to find a loophole.
Meanwhile, Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal, his career-long rivals who he worked tirelessly to catch, continued to play. Neither was able to win his twenty-first Grand Slam title that year, despite Federer’s rousing Wimbledon run to the quarter-finals and Nadal’s French Open Finals loss. With players dropping out frequently because of illness or out of abundant caution, it seemed inevitable that one of the two Godfathers of tennis would finally snap the deadlock.
Year after year, it was the same. Djokovic steadfastly refused to become vaccinated, even as the virus mutated and new strains challenged the human race anew with every turn of the calendar. He swore by his regimen of vitamins and cited doctor’s reports attesting to his immaculate health. Roger and Rafa, gifted the absence of the main rival, continued to toy with the tennis world with close calls, even as they entered their mid- and early-forties, respectively.
Federer was the first to retire, finally hanging up his Wilson and calling it a day at forty-five. After losing in the second round of the 2026 Wimbledon tournament to an unheralded qualifier, he came to the public realization that his love for the game was gone. At his final post-match press conference, he said into the webcam, “I’m satisfied that I did all I could. To be honest, it’s been six or seven years since I actually believed I could win another Grand Slam. It’s time to go enjoy my life now.”
With both of his main opponents now out of action, Rafa Nadal appeared to be all but assured a twenty-first title every year at the French Open. Reinvigorated, Rafa rededicated his life to keeping himself healthy. Between yoga and his team of physiotherapists, the nagging injuries of his thirties evaporated. Somehow, his legendary left arm appeared even more muscular as he approached his fortieth birthday. His only concession to time was his slowly-thinning hair.
While Nadal slowly stopped playing the other Slams and focused on just the French Open each year, Djokovic would watch him play from his palatial estate back home. He won’t admit to cheering against Rafa Nadal, but he can’t say his heart was completely pure. “Of course, when his opponents would make a terrific shot, I would sometimes let a cheer out. Purely by accident, of course! Listen, Rafa will always be my old friend, and his success is my success as well.”
His old friend might not agree. Increasingly irked by the questions about Djokovic’s vaccination status that followed him everywhere he went, Nadal once sarcastically remarked, “It’s a good thing I’m not the type to want to be adored. If I had known how easy it was to get attention, maybe I, too, would have refused to get a little needle.” It was clear the love wasn’t mutual.
There were such close calls, so many heart-wrenching moments, but Nadal never could break through. He entered French Open after French Open, chasing the record, until he was forty-six and, finally, physically broken. A torn ligament in his knee two months before the tournament had reduced him to a shell of his former self. He was spotted partying with a socialite the night before his first match, uncharacteristically drinking alcohol. Just ninety-two minutes after he stepped onto the empty main court, he was done, a straight-sets loser in a match where he showed he finally had nothing left to give. There wasn’t even a press conference afterwards. Rafa Nadal just rode off into the sunset to live his reclusive life.
And then there was just Novak left, possibly the greatest of all time. But for him, there could be no question, and he knew that to do that, he would have to win that one, final Slam.
Experts debate four times a year whether or not he would win should he be allowed to enter. A recent poll in a magazine showed that 34% of respondents still think he could win a Slam this year.
“One day, one of the governments is going to come to their senses and realize they’ve been making an enormous mistake. You can’t avoid fate. It is inevitable. I know I will get the chance soon. Look how close I got to my destiny in New York last year.”
Close might be a bit of an exaggeration, but he certainly did get close to playing. He made it as far as warming up on-court for his first-round match. He had been allowed entry due to the political machinations of powerful rivals in the U.S. government. Supporters lined the streets and called for his exemption to be approved, and indeed, it was. At the last minute, Djokovic’s dream turned back into a pumpkin and he was humiliatingly walked off the court and taken right to his private plane. He sued, and his claim is still working its way through the court system.
And so, the saga continues. This year will mark the twenty-fifth consecutive year of Novak Djokovic-less tennis at all but the most inconsequential satellite tournaments, which he uses to keep sharp, albeit against inferior competition. Whether or not he finally wins one more Grand Slam title, one part of his history is already set in stone - Novak Djokovic will never give up.

2022.01.17 16:54 Exciting_Flamingo807 Remember how you did it before you were trying
TL:DR Go back and look at how effortless it was to manifest before you knew you were doing it. Use those techniques.
The other day I was thinking about techniques when it struck me that I’ve been unintentionally manifesting my entire life. This caused me to think about how I used to do it before I learned about Neville. I’ve always been a natural visualizer and nearly everything that I have wanted has come to fruition in some way. I’ve noticed since I learned about Neville, I have been caught up in whether or not I am doing it right.
I remembered then how I got my first SP. I just thought about them all day long. I unintentionally was doing SATS and it was completely natural! I completely immersed myself in the feeling and thought of being with them because it felt good. I didn’t worry that they lived halfway across the country. I didn’t worry that they were with someone else. I didn’t worry that it was basically impossible in the 3d. I just kept visualizing because if felt good and natural to do so. Here’s what happened: SP moved to where I was living for work at the suggestion of their significant other. SP and their significant other broke up because SP realized they had feelings for me. Significant other then moved away. SP and I got together. It was completely effortless on my part. All I did was get lost in my imagination.
If you go back and look at your life you can see exactly how everything has manifested. Use the techniques you used before you were trying!

2022.01.17 16:54 zhorch [Bug] Or Intended? Revived Crew unable to take commands?
Hello All! I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended. I accidentally warped with a crew member outside the station and of course it provided me with their left overs, a head. When put into the analyzer and brought back through the incubation tank, the crew membecolonist no longer accepts commands. Am I missing something? Am I supposed to construct something to allow them to move again after being revived or am i just unable to use them? I've built an incinerator to try to put the revived crew member in and that wont work. I've not used the incinerator to see if they hide inside it and have another crew start it, if that will get rid of him. He's counting towards my max colonist cap which is inconvenient. He has a -4 morale if that's the issue?
